PROGRAMMING NOTES
This licensed version is based on the original 1996 Off-Broadway production at the Variety Arts Theatre in NYC.
This show is orchestrated to be player-conducted from the piano by the MD. Including the piano/conductor book, there are a total of 2 keyboard books but only Key 2/Synth has programming. The programming is very essential to the overall sound of the show because of the many dark and spooky sounds that are used that can only come from a keyboard.
Among many of the patches found in Key 2, they include such sounds and instruments as “Spooky Organ”, “Psycho” Strings, “Doomsday”, “Scary” Tubular Bells, Matrix Mellowstrings, “Ain’t No Analog”, “Nightmare” Analog, Synth Brass, Klicomp Tree, acoustic piano, as well as several types of organs and various explosions just to name a few. KeyboardTEK used the original sounds from the hardware used in the 1996 Off-Broadway production.
Scored for a small 5 piece acoustic rock band, the Key 2 book could easily be played by an advance high school student.
