A Greek muse inspires love, laughter and the world’s first roller disco in this 1980s glitter explosion.
This version is based on the 2010 US National Touring Production.
There are 2 keyboard books in this show and both are heavily programmed and essential to the sound and style of the show. This show is designed to be conducted from the Keyboard 1 book although the lyrics are not included in that book. There is a Piano/Vocal score but that does not have the patch names or the patch changes.
Keyboard 1 has over 130 patch changes in this show. There are lots of different kinds of piano sounds along with brass, woodwinds, strings, percussion, and synth elements. This book requires an excellent pianist who is a good groove, pop/rock player who can lead the band while playing and navigating the programming.
Keyboard 2 has more patches and patch changes (150) and is more synth heavy than Keyboard 1. There are lots of different sounds in this book such as Metal Guitar, various Strings, Mallet Percussion, Woodwinds, and Brass. This book has some difficult passages in spots and would benefit from an excellent player who has experience playing shows with programming.

Based on the Universal Pictures cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, Xanadu is hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.
Xanadu follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it’s 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation, and chaos abounds.
Xanadu is a moving, electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep audiences in stitches while the original legendary, chart-topping tunes lift them out of their seats.
