We’ve got trouble, folks, right here in Indiana and when Broadway’s brassiest hear a student is unceremoniously sidelined from a small-town Indiana prom—and the press is involved—they are ready to kick-ball-change the world.
The licensed orchestration is based on the Original 2018 Broadway Production.
This show is orchestrated to be keyboard-conducted from the Piano/Conductor book by the MD. There are a total of 2 keyboard parts in this show. In addition to the PC/Key 1 book, there is a Keyboard 2 book, both with programming essential to the show. KeyboardTEK is proud to partner with Jim Abbott to offer the original Broadway patches for your production. Jim was the synth programmer for the Broadway and US Touring productions and these are the same sounds as heard on the Original Cast Recording.
Keyboard 1 is the primary piano book. With around 75 total patches, these include a variety of acoustic and electric pianos. In addition, there are a number of analog synth patches as well as guitar, horn, and mallet percussion to name a few. This book will require a very strong MD who can navigate playing the part with the programming while leading the band.
Key 2 is much more dense with an excess of over 200 patches. There is a good mix of analog synth patches (pads, leads, basses) as well as orchestral instruments such as brass, saxes, woodwinds, harp, strings, mallet percussion, and aux percussion. The book is not as technically challenging as other Key 2 books in the musical theater canon but will require an advanced player that is rhythmically sounds while being comfortable navigating lots of patches and patch changes.
