PROGRAMMING NOTES

This licensed orchestration is based on a 2017 revision that bears little resemblance to the Original Broadway Production. This version was created specifically for the secondary licensing market. It contains a brand new book, all new arrangements and orchestrations of the score, as well as some new original songs. Currently there is no recording that accurately reflects the changes.

This show is orchestrated to be player-conducted from the Keyboard 1/PC chair. There are 2 keyboard books in this show and both have programming that is essential to the 70’s sound of the show.

Keyboard 1/PC is the primary piano book and has about 75 total patches. Those sounds include various acoustic and electric pianos, harpsichord, clavinet, strings, vibes, woodwinds, and the famous “synth flute”. This is a groove book and requires a great rhythmic player familiar with the tunes who can navigate the part and the programming while leading the band.

Keyboard 2 is all about the disco strings. Our programming includes all of the falls and other string ornamentations heard in the original soundtrack. There are over 120 unique patches in this part and include sounds such as acoustic and electric pianos, clav, pop brass, woodwinds, saxes, B3 organ, orchestral percussion, and lots of synthesizer elements such as pads, leads, drones, and strings. This books programming is a must have if you are producing this show.

Told through the eyes of a talented, streetwise kid from Brooklyn who attempts to escape his dead-end life through dancing, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER explores relationships on and off the dance floor with humor, conflict, style and unforgettable swagger. Powered by the chart-breaking hits of the Bee Gees, the pulsating score includes Stayin’ Alive, If I Can’t Have You, How Deep is Your Love, Boogie Shoes, and Disco Inferno
