PROGRAMMING NOTES
Although changes have been made for the licensed version, the orchestration is based on the Original 2006 Broadway Production.
This show is orchestrated to be conducted from the piano by the Music Director. There are a total of 2 keyboard books in this show including the Keyboard 1/Conductor. The K2 book is labelled Utility and is really a doubled book on keyboard and rhythm guitar. You must have a keyboard player who can play guitar for this book or better yet, a guitarist who can play a little keyboard. Our programming does not come with the rhythm guitar patches as this would not sound authentic.
Keyboard 1 is the primary piano book with approximately 25 patches in total. If you have a modern keyboard with lots of built in sounds, you could easily do that on the keyboard but if you would rather have a MainStage file with everything set up for you in the order of the show, we have it available to license for your production.
As mentioned, Keyboard 2 is more of a rhythm guitar book with some keyboard patches here and there. Those sounds include organ, trumpet, vibes, B3 Hammond, pipe organ, various string instruments and several more patches. Because the keyboard parts are very simple, it is recommended to have this book played by a guitarist who can also play keys.
