PROGRAMMING NOTES
This licensed orchestration is an amalgamation of the Original 1998 Broadway and Original West End Productions.
This version is orchestrated to be stick conducted from the podium and has 2 keyboards in the show, both with lots of programming.
Keyboard 1 (labelled Piano) is the primary piano book but like many ALW shows the book has lots of other sounds and instruments to augment the live orchestra. Piano/Key 1 opens the show with a beautiful music box patch and continues on to play such instruments such as synthesizer, orchestral percussion, celeste, orchestral brass, vibes, choir/voice pads, organ, and harpsichord to name a few. Surprisingly, it is not a difficult book and could likely be played by an advanced level high school student who knows the show as long as they are comfortable navigating the programming and all the patch changes.
Keyboard 2 (labelled Synthesizer) is mostly orchestral padding and includes sounds such as strings with various articulations, voice pads, synth pads, percussion, brass, guitar, and the ever popular “Phantom Mist” among many others. This is a pretty simple book and could easily be played by an advanced level high school player.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s enthralling score includes “Think of Me,” “Angel of Music,” “‘Music of the Night,” “All I Ask of You,” “Masquerade” and the title song.
