PROGRAMMING NOTES
This orchestration is based on the the Original 2007 Broadway Production but has been adapted for the secondary licensing market so there are some changes.
This show is orchestrated to be stick conducted from the podium but several of our clients have conducted it from the piano/conductor score successfully. Just be aware that the patch names and changes in the Piano book are not marked in the PC and there are no lyrics or guide vocals in the Piano book. There are 2 keyboard books in this show both of which have programming.
The first book is labeled Piano which although primarily a piano book, does have more than 20 different sounds including celeste, harpsichord, honky-tonk piano, Hammond B3, harpsichord, and several synth pads and other synthy elements.
Keyboard 2 is much more heavily programmed with about 60 unique instruments and over 100 patch changes. Most of the sounds in this book are Synth based pads and strings. There are some percussion elements as well as a handful of other instruments. Neither book is terribly difficult so its possible an advanced high school could manage either part.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
Based on the real-life story of history’s Grace O’Malley – an Irish Chieftain and notorious pirate, The Pirate Queen is an adventure chronicling the compelling, inspiring heroine who led an extraordinary life as a rogue, lover and mother in 16th-century Ireland. To protect her people and save her one true love, O’Malley must confront the one woman more powerful than her — her fierce rival, Queen Elizabeth I of England.
From the writers of Les Misérables and Miss Saigon, the show combines classic storytelling and a sweeping score, with the powerful, vibrant traditions of Irish dance and song, to create a modern musical event that is both historic romance and a timeless epic.
