PROGRAMMING NOTES
This licensed orchestration is only available to theaters and schools in the UK and is based on the Original 2008 London West End production.
This show is orchestrated to be player-conducted from the Keyboard 1 book. There are 2 keyboard books in the show both with programming.
As stated, Keyboard 1 is the conductor book and is also the primary piano book. However, there are other sounds in the programming including tack piano, electric piano, synth voices, strings, brass, and mallet percussion to name a few. This is not an overly difficult part but this player will need to be familiar with Madness songs and be able to navigate the part and programming while leading the band.
Keyboard 2 has much more programming and serves as padding to the small band. Sounds and patches include orchestral percussion, strings, harp, vibes, marimba, Farfisa organ, various acoustic pianos, synth pads, guitar, and the ever specific “cheesy organ” patch to among many others.
SHOW DESCRIPTION
Based in 1980s Camden Town, the Our House tells the story of London lad Joe Casey, who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their first date. In an effort to impress her with bravado, he breaks into a building site overlooking his home on Casey Street, which is owned by Mister Pressman, a high-end property developer. The police turn up, at which point Joe’s life splits into two: the Good Joe, who stays to help, and Bad Joe, who flees.
Featuring a collection of Madness hits including House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving in my Car, It Must Be Love and of course Our House, the show is a huge hit with groups and schools looking for a very British musical.
