PROGRAMMING NOTES
This licensed version is based on the 2012 Original Broadway Production.
This show is orchestrated to be stick conducted from the podium and has 2 keyboard parts both with programming. Several productions have had the MD play the Keyboard 1 part and conduct the band successfully.
Keyboard 1 is the primary piano book. There is programming available for this book and it consists primarily of various acoustic and electric pianos with string pads occasionally as well as some harp and a handful of synth sounds. This book does require an advanced pianist who is a strong rhythmic player.
Keyboard 2 is alot more programmed than Keyboard 1 and would benefit from someone who is familiar with playing shows with lots of patches and patch changes. This book contains all of the Hammond Organ sounds. The other instruments and sounds consist of various custom EP sounds with lots of synth elements such as pads and strings. This book is not as challenging as Keyboard 1 but would be best played by someone with a knowledge of proper gospel B3 Hammond Organ playing. Otherwise, an advanced high school pianist could play this book.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
Love will get you every time… and one charismatic con man is about to find that out in the Tony-nominated Leap of Faith, based on the film of the same name that starred Steve Martin and Debra Winger. With a roof-raising score by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors, Disney’s The Little Mermaid), lyrics by Grammy winner Glenn Slater (Disney’s Tangled), and a book by Janus Cercone and Tony winner Warren Leight, Leap of Faith boasts a tour-de-force creative team and is sure to have your audiences dancing in the aisles.
The “Reverend” Jonas Nightingale, an electrifying performer and con artist, is travelling with his ministry when his bus breaks down in a small Kansas town. The part-time reverend and full-time crook pitches a tent and invites the locals to a revival. The sheriff, a woman named Marla McGowan, is determined to stop Jonas from separating the townspeople from their money, and Jonas’ real challenge arises when he meets the sheriff and her son, whose love forces an ultimate cynic to take a real leap of faith.
A moving tribute to the power of faith, Leap of Faith is a perfect show for organizations looking to entertain as well as inspire their audiences. Jonas Nightengale is a powerhouse role, providing the perfect opportunity to showcase a true star performer, as well as an ensemble that can bring the house down with sensational songs and explosive choreography.
