Licensing Company: MTI
A masterful retelling of the original sensation, injected with contemporary references and dazzling new arrangements.
This licensed version is based on the 2012 Broadway Revival.
This show is orchestrated to be player conducted from the Keyboard using the Piano/Conductor book. This show is unique as there are 2 keyboard parts but one of them is primarily Guitar Book which is labeled Guitar 3/Keyboard.
Keyboard 1 is designed to be played by the MD/Conductor and is the primary piano book. An advanced player who is a good groove player would be best for this book as this show has lots of rock/pop/folk rhythm playing. The patches in this book consist mostly of acoustic piano, electric piano, and B3 Organ. If you have a digital keyboard capable of playing these patches, someone who is comfortable programming the hardware could do the programming for this book themselves.
Guitar 3/Keyboard serves as the de-facto second keyboard book in this orchestration although as the book name suggests, it is primarily a Guitar book and is designed for a guitarist who plays some keyboard. There are just a handful of patches that are played in the keyboard which means one of your guitarists needs to be able to play keyboards at a decent level. None of the songs that require the keyboard patches are technically difficult and could be played by an intermediate player. If yours is a high school production, you could even get 2 students to split the book keeping in mind that there would be several numbers where one would not be playing anything. The patches in this book include Piano, Fender Rhodes, harpsichord, church organ, B3 Organ, and synth. If ordering the programming for this book, it is listed as Keyboard 2 in the form below.

Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm. Led by the international hit, “Day by Day,” Godspell features a parade of beloved songs, including “Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All for the Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side.”
A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
