PROGRAMMING NOTES

This licensed version was created in 2010 and was based on an amalgamation of the the UK and US touring productions from 2005-2008.

This show was orchestrated to be stick-conducted from the podicum but can be done from the piano if necessary using the Piano/Conductor Score. However, the patches and patch changes are not listed in the PC and would need to be written in from the Keyboard 1 book.

This show has 2 keyboard parts with both books having a fair amount of programming. Keyboard 1 is primarily piano but does have lots of Strings, Percussion, Harp, and Orchestral instruments.

Keyboard 2 has many sounds and patch changes in the programming and would benefit having a player with experience with these types of books. The sounds and instruments vary from Strings to Brass, Woodwinds, and many orchestral patches. Both books do require advanced players.

SHOW DESCRIPTION

The classic tale of kindness to animals trots, crawls and flies onto the stage in Doctor Dolittle, the big Broadway-sized family musical. All of the characters we’ve come to love through the stories of Hugh Lofting and the magical movie musical are given new life in the stage version.

The musical tells the classic tale of a wacky but kind Doctor who can talk to animals. The show takes the audience on a journey from the small English village of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh to the far corners of the world. Doctor Dolittle is wrongly accused of murder and, once pronounced innocent, continues with his search for the Great Pink Sea Snail – the oldest and wisest of the creatures on earth.
