PROGRAMMING NOTES
This licensed orchestration is based on the Original 2004 Broadway Production.
This version is orchestrated to be player conducted from the Piano Conductor score. There are 2 keyboard books in this show, both with programming. The Piano Conductor score is the primary piano book although there are several other sounds that are played such as accordion, EP’s, clavinet, harp, music box, strings, various church organs, and flute to name just a few.
Keyboard 2 is primarily a B3 organ book. KeyboardTEK has recreated all the original organ drawbars and registrations for you so you can focus on playing. This book will require someone who is familiar and comfortable with B3 organ playing. There are lots of slash chords so the player will need to improvise rhythmically throughout. Other sounds include strings, triggered SFX, piano, brass, and synth pads. Outside of the B3 notation, this is a fairly easy book to navigate and play. It would be best to play this book on an unweighted keyboard if possible.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
BKLYN follows a troupe of street performers telling a story about two young artists (he, American, an aspiring songwriter; she, French, an aspiring dancer). The two become lovers. Fate separates them, and the girl, who becomes pregnant, thinks she has been abandoned. She names her baby daughter Brooklyn, after the city the father is from. The grieving mother finds employment as a dancer to support the family. But, still grieving her lover’s abandonment of their family, she commits suicide onstage during a performance. The daughter, grieving her mother’s death, comes to the U.S. from France to find the father she never knew. The rest of the show consists of that journey.
