PROGRAMMING NOTES
This 19 piece orchestration is based on the Original 1994 Broadway Production. The keyboard programming reflects the new REVISED orchestrations by Disney released in late 2021. If you have a license to use the older original orchestrations with Maison des Lunes and The Battle, please let us know so we can get you the programming that matches your version.
This show is orchestrated to be stick conducted from the podium. There are 3 keyboard books for this 19 piece version of the show.
Keyboard 1 requires an advanced player but the sounds consist of primarily Piano & Celeste so there is not much programming involved. KeyboardTEK does offer a Keyboard 1 book with the Mainstage patches for a greatly reduced fee or you can choose to play the entire book on piano. If you have a digital keyboard with a Celeste patch, you can choose to have the player switch between sounds themselves as indicated.
Books 2 & 3 are heavily programmed and will require advanced players for both chairs that have familiarity with keyboard patches and advanced programming. Keyboard 2 is primarily orchestral padding for the live musicians and the sounds include harpischord, double reeds, strings, brass, as well as organ and celeste.
Keyboard 3 is primarily a string book to augment any live strings you have. There are many string articulations in this book and would be best for a player who understands the nuances between these different articulations although they are programmed. This book is extremely dense and makes liberal use of the Auto Advance plugin that allows the player to not have to manually change as many patches due to the sheer amount of string articulations in this book. Put your most experienced musical theater keyboardist on this book if you can.

SHOW DESCRIPTION
Step into the enchanted world of Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, an international sensation that played a remarkable 13-year run on Broadway and has been produced in 37 countries worldwide. Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
