All Shook Up (School Edition)

ALL SHOOK UP School Edition has been adapted from the original Broadway Production. The School Edition has been carefully edited, with additional director’s notes throughout, to make the show more producible for high school groups. Song keys have been adjusted to sit more comfortably in the range of high school performers. In some cases problematic language has been changed, while in others an alternate choice is offered at the discretion of the director. It’s 1955, and into a square little town in a square little state rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets.

PROGRAMMING NOTES

This licensed orchestration is based on the 2007 US National Tour which was not changed much from the Original 2005 Broadway Production.

This show is orchestrated to be conducted from the Keyboard 1/PC chair. This book is piano only with no programming. This book will need an advanced player who is comfortable playing classic rock and roll while leading the band.

Keyboard 2 is primarily all B3 Organ with just a couple of additional sounds such as various acoustic and electric piano patches, banjo even, and the occasional synth patch. It is essential to get a player who is very comfortable playing organ licks and who understands the registrations of a B3 Hammond Organ. It is also recommended to have an unweighted keyboard for the organ stuff since there are lots of B3 glissandi. The ideal setup would be a 2 keyboard stack with the upper stack being for the organ sounds and the lower stack being for the other patches. KeyboardTEK has this programming available in a single stack as well as a double stack configuration.
